Another Update on A Garden State of Mind

It took years for New Jersey to wrestle the Most Corrupt State title from Louisiana and public officials there are determined not to relinquish the crown.

In the latest of dozens of corruption-related arrests there in recent years, yet another passel of mayors and other public officials from Atlantic, Essex, Passaic counties have been caught accepting payoffs from undercover agents in yet another sting operation.
New Jersey is so screwed up that it had to change its slogan back from the tried and true "Garden State" from "Come See For Yourself" after it turned out that West Virginia had dibs on it.

My suggestion that New Jersey be called "The Kick Me State" was not well received. Nor will this suggestion from a reader: "New Jersey and Corruption: Perfect Together."
Click here for my thumbsucker on what makes New Jersey so weirdly special – as well as abjectly corrupt.
