The 10 Worst Automobiles Today

The Truth About Cars, my favorite automotive blog (who buys magazines anymore?), has asked its readers to name the 10 Worst Automobiles Today.

Although exterior design has a lot to do with the winners -- or losers, or whatever they are – so does build quality, handling and little stuff that I’d never thing of like antennas.

With the contest in the home stretch, here are the top 10 TWATs:

Jeep Compass
Subaru B9 Tribeca
GM Minivans (joint)
Toyota Camry
Jeep Commander
Mercedes R-Class
Chevrolet Impala
Chrysler Aspen
Chevrolet Aveo
Chevrolet Monte Carlo

There are some common denominators: Seven of the 10 TWATs are American bred, four of them from General Motors, and three from Chrysler, which of late seems to want to emulate GM’s death wish.

The big-selling Camry doesn’t break down and is economical, but it’s on the list because it’s booooring, while the votes for the Mercedes R-Class would seem to be out of sheer spite.

My hand’s down winner is the Tribeca, which cannot be beat for its sheer butt ugliness.

More here.
