Iraq III: Navy SEAL To Get Medal of Honor

Navy SEAL Michael A. Monsoor will become the third soldier to receive the Medal of Honor for duty in Iraq.
Monsoor, 25, a petty officer 2nd class who grew up in Garden Grove, California, died after pouncing on an insurgent grenade to shield his fellow SEALs and several Iraqi soldiers during a battle with insurgents on September 26, 2006 in Ramadi.
The Medal of Honor is the nation's highest award for bravery. Only one Marine and one soldier have been awarded the medal for actions in Iraq, while another SEAL received the medal for action in Afghanistan.

All were given posthumously.
