Terri Schiavo Is Still Dead

Of all of the despicable episodes of the last eight years, it's tough to top the spectacle of President Bush racing back to Washington from a vacation in 2005 to sign legislation to keep a poor vegetable of a woman alive to satisfy right-wing fundamentalist nut cases and then three months later ignoring the plight of a million sentient people walloped by Hurricane Katrina.

Having learned nothing from a humiliating string of Culture War defeats, these self same nut cases are preparing to fight the nomination of Thomas Perrelli as an associate AG because he was Michael Schiavo's lawyer and successfully fought to have his wife's feeding tube removed.

And once again a public that was overwhelmingly opposed to the intervention of Congress and Bush will be reminded of what dangerous clowns these people are.
