Another Dumb Hunter, Another Death

It is hard to understand how a hunter could have mistaken three Ferrum (Va.) College students collecting frogs along a wooded trail for a biology class could be mistaken for deer.

But yet another hunter apparently did so, leaving 23-year-old Jessica Goode dead and one shot in the hand in an annual fall ritual.

This is because for some hunters anything that moves and is not wearing hunters' blaze orange is literally fair game.
Jason David Cloutier was charged with manslaughter, reckless handling of a firearm and trespassing.

Police said the 31-year-old Ferrum resident was the first o call 9-1-1.

Of course those from the "party of no" will be all about how the victim did not take personal responsibility for her safety: should have known it was hunting season; should have been wearing blaze orange clothing, etc., etc., ad nauseum
