What We Forget About Solzhenitsyn

Alexander Isayevich Solzhenitsyn's Gulag Archipeligo was one of the most influential book that I ever read.

And while we mourn the passing of the great writer and historian who brought to the outside world the horrors of the Soviet system of prison colonies and labor camps, we forget Solzhenitsyn's other great contribution -- decrying the modern-day imperialism of the U.S.

And that as a pre-eminent paleoconservative he was against a lot of stuff you'd figure he was for and for a lot of stuff you'd figure he was against.

More here.

For me it was 'One Day In The Life Of Ivan Denisovitch'. It was a 7th grade assignment, 30+ years ago.
