When Congress adjourns, so do C-Span's live broadcasts because the cameras are controlled by congressional leaders.That would include Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who adjourned the House last Friday for its five-week summer recess in part to avoid a vote on lifting a moratorium on offshore oil drilling that she knew she would lose.
Several dozen Republicans decided to stay on the House floor and discuss energy legislation, but the cameras and microphones were turned off, so several congressfolk resorted to their cell phones and Twitter.
