Beautiful Photograph du Jour

The Second World War was over and there I was at high noon, crossing Times Square with a Purple Heart on.
One of the happier enduring mysteries of World War II is the identities of the sailor and nurse kissing in Times Square in this famous Alfred Eisenstaedt photograph during a V-J Day celebration.

A number of men and women have claimed to be the kisser and kissee, although The Associated Press reported a year ago that the identity of the nurse finally had been determined.
