While there is much moaning over the absence of parity in the National Football League, where nine of the 32 teams have one or no victory, parity is alive and well in Major League Baseball.
When the Phillies met the Dodgers last night in the opening game of the National League Championship Series, they were on a quest to become the first NL team to win consecutive World Series since the 1975-76 Cincinnati Reds. In fact, there have been 10 different champions in the last 11 seasons.
The Phillies prevailed by a score of 8-6.
