The V-22 & Blaming The Dead Pilots

The V-22 Osprey is a remarkable aircraft. It has turboprop tiltrotors, giving it both vertical takeoff and landing and short takeoff and landing capability. In other words, it can perform the mission of turboprop aircraft in helicopter mufti.

As ab fab as that is, the Osprey has been a very troubled aircraft from the jump with myriad design, production and testing problems that nearly killed the program several times. And then in April 2000, 19 Marines and the two pilots died in a fiery crash in Arizona which was blamed on "human factors."

A congressman isn't buying that conclusion. Neither am I.
