In one of the biggest little stories of the new administration, President Obama has been allowed to keep his BlackBerry, but only with certain . . . um, modifications. These go well beyond the strongest version of the government's Advanced Encryption Standard for scrambling calls using a 256-bit encryption key, which is what FBI agents and Pentagon bigs have in their BlackBerrys. But the BlackBerry is a programmable device, so hypothetically it still can be hacked. Or can't it?Photograph by Agence France-Presse
