The likelihood of there being no connection between an arson fire at the Wasilla Bible Church over the weekend and the fact that one of its congregants is Sarah Palin is small to none.
To give credit where it's due, Palin did apologize to the pastor lest there be any connection between her notoriety and the $1 million fire, which was set while several adults and two children were in the church. All escaped unhurt.
And to state the obvious, it is difficult to imagine that the church would be the target of such a despicable act if Palin was merely an outspoken conciliator who respected people of all views and beliefs and not a Christianist culture warrior whose supporters revel in the fact that she is a magnet for hatefulness.Photograph by Al Grillo/The Associated Press
