Rod Blagojevich: Too Stupid To Be Bad?

Rod Blagojevich is on track to become the fifth Illinois governor in modern times to be convicted of corruption and do prison time. A whole lot of time if the charges against him, stick, including selling Barack Obama's vacated Senate seat to the highest bidder if he didn't appoint himself.

Blagojevich, who of course ran for governor as a "reform" candidate, apparently knew that the FBI was tailing him but continued to behave badly. Methinks many skeletons will be unearthed before this one is over, and it will be deeply embarrassing to the president-elect even if there are no connections of consequence, which I highly doubt there will be.

This, of course, will not stop right-wing pundits from pulling out their broad brush and trying to smear Obama although he is effectively exonerated in the indictment and most certainly will not be granting a presidential pardon on this one.

The Chicago Tribune is on top of the fun and games, while insomniacs might want to curl up with the profanity-laced indictment brought by U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald. Yes, that Patrick Fitzgerald.

The absolute brashness of it is stunning - making me wonder if he's insane, or if things are really as bad as I've feared sometimes (but optimistically hoped was not so).
