Saving the Family Farm

People who want to save family farms are not nostalgia freaks who are unwilling to change with the times, which is to say allow corporate mega-farms completely take over American agriculture. Family farms have a vitally important place in community and national life and must not be allowed to die.Which is why the outcome of Gale v. Jones, a Nebraska court case, is so important.
The case is a challenge to Nebraska’s long-running effort to keep its farms in family hands by barring corporate and non-farming partnership owners. The Eighth Circuit Court has ruled against the state, which has now petitioned Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito to come to the rescue.
Alito can act on the request or refer it to the full court.
