Another Update on the Dubaiya Ports Debacle

Kiko's House reported yesterday that there was another reason to oppose the deal whereby United Arab Emirates-owned Dubai Ports World would take over management of six U.S. ports: DPW's parent company supports the Arab boycott of Israel.

We'll, there's yet another. A key Republican lawmaker now says that U.S. investigators never looked into whether DPW had ties to Al Qaeda or other terrorists.

This is more of academic interest since Al Qaeda claimed to have infiltrated the United Arab Emirates in a 2002 communique.

Today's gory details are here.

Meanwhile, the Washington Post reports that the Bush administration -- once burned, twice shy -- has ordered a security review of another Dubai-owned company. Says the Post:

Administration officials are privately briefing leaders of half a dozen House and Senate committees this week about the two planned transactions, concerned that both deals could stir controversy in a political climate that remains supercharged over the Dubai port deal.
