Iraq Three Years On: Voices From the Homefront

Being contrarians at heart, the folks at Kiko's House could not stand the thought of another round of comments from the usual media suspects on the occasion of the third anniversary of the war in Iraq.

So we got to thinking.

Yes, we thought, it's obvious that the war has changed Iraq -- for better and for worse.

But has it changed the United States -- and for better or worse?

We tossed that hot potato to Kiko's House regulars and some folks out there in the Greater Blogosphere. We were overwhelmed by the number of people who caught the potato, buttered it with their perspectives and tossed it back. There were a host of provocative views and a depth of feeling that I found humbling.

And with the U.S. today launching Operation Swarmer, the largest air assault operation of the post-war occupation, against the insurgent hotbed of Salaheddin Province, the timing could not have been better. Or worse, depending upon one's perspective. (Details here.)

The following 12 posts are a representative sampling of answers to our question, concluding with my own thoughts.
