How incredible that not one of the mainstream media accounts of the Chrysler bankruptcy that I read included the core reason the Half of the Big Two and a Half had to seek protection: It was tone deaf to the needs of the marketplace and made products that were, by and large, ugly pieces of crap.

i usually dig your posts, and I don't necessarily disagree with your argument here, but you posted an image of a pretty nice lookin' vehicle. If Chrysler ever did anything right, it was the 300c.
Japan gave us Civics, Carollas, B210s and some great little trucks. Detroit gave us Pintos, Vegas and Citations. Jimmy Carter warned them in no uncertain terms.

It's tragic enough when it happens to an ordinary person, but there's definitely something very alarming about big-named companies declaring for bankruptcy. It's not just evidence that business has slowed down immensely, it also shows that the company wasn't able to keep up with what gave their competition the lead. Kodak went bankrupt because its competitors put more effort and emphasis into digital photography. Business is a cut-throat, fast-moving world, and if you're not doing enough to keep your head above water, you're going to get left behind.
