After 50 Years, Nat Hentoff Writes '30'

During my college years, Thursday were special. The weekly Village Voice was delivered and I could dive into Nat Hentoff's latest column, while the latter part of the evening almost inevitably included a stop by a favorite local watering hole.
Well, 50 years on I'm still water holing, albeit rather infrequently, while Hentoff has written his last Voice column.

Hentoff says he plans to keep on writing in other forums, his Voice voice will be missed. He stayed determinedly to the left as many of his peers drifted rightward, has been an extraordinary truth seeker and tireless champion of the disadvantaged.
