The 885 Greatest Artists of All Time

We're not talking Rembrandt or Picasso. We're referring to the 885 greatest musicians, composers and songwriters of all time as voted on by the listeners of WXPN-FM in Philadelphia.

The list is beyond eclectic, and among the artists played Tuesday were Al Green, Cake, Thelonious Monk, Linda Ronstadt, Van Halen, Judy Garland and Fairport Convention.

'XPN is a great alternative music station in the finest sense of the word alternative. It began counting down the 885 greatest on October 9, started Wednesday at No. 226 and will continue each day during the day.

I'm into it and will provide daily updates through to Numero Uno who, my guess is, will be either Bob Dylan or The Beatles. On the other hand, don't count out Mozart.
