Another Win In The War For Craziness

I don't recall there being protests when Ronald Ray Guns went on teevee to lecture schoolchildren about being good little citizens. I don't recall there being protests when George H.W. Bush lectured schoolchildren about just saying meh to drugs. I don't recall there being protests when President George W. Bush read to elementary school kids in Florida as the 9/11 attacks unfolded.

So why are there protests over Barack Obama going on teevee next week to speak to school kids about personal responsibility? And why are some parents pulling their children out of school that day?

The answer
is extremely (pun intended) simple: People are scared. People are angry. And the right wing has a black president in its sights whom it will attack relentlessly. Where once abortion, gun control and stem-cell research were issues, now everything is. It doesn't matter that the text of Obama's remarks have been released in advance, are harmless and it's up to each school whether they want to broadcast those remarks.

These wingnuts just don't want their children to hear anything that their president has to say.
