Publius hits the nail squarely on the head when he says that both Barack Obama and Jeff Sessions are vindications of historical choices.
Obama, of course, is the Democratic Party nominated first African-American president while Sessions is the Republican Party senator from Alabama who was rejected from the federal bench for being a racist but is being elevated to ranking membership on the Judiciary Committee by his party peers.
The historical-choice thing, of course, is the Democrats' adoption of policies and priorities that have made it more inclusive and a national vote-getting juggernaut in the last two elections and the Republicans' adoption of policies and priorities that have made it less inclusive with a diminishing voter base as it shrivels into a regional party.
Fascinating and sad, no?
