Playing Ketchup With the News

Kiko's House is playing catch-up on these stories, all of which inconveniently occurred while we were on the road:

* Most Americans are angry about something, according to a CNN poll. My question is: So what the hell are they going to do about it? More here.

* The British jetliner terrorist plot investigation is unraveling and the original narrative offered by the Blair and Bush administrations is looking more and more like a leaky bucket. More here (registration required.)

* The Education Department has been sharing personal information on student loan applicants with the FBI. More here.

*
Was Karl Rove's father gay? Does it matter? Of course not. But a new book that makes that claim says that President Bush's consigliere, the man behind the relentless Republican attack on gays, had a loving relationship with him. More here.

* Speaking of Rove, under his direction the Republican Party secretly funneled millions of bucks into Democrat Joe Lieberman's unsuccessful primary campaign. How shocking! More here.

*
The Villiage Voice
fired Robert Christgau, who more than earned the moniker as the Dean of American Rock Critics. More here.

* Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon" is really an alternative soundtrack to "The Wizard of Oz." More here.

* Finally, we offer our condolences to Josh Marshall of Talking Points Memo, whose father died unexpectedly. You can read his moving tribute here.
