The surprise hit of the Torino Winter Olympics seems to be curling.I used to think that curling was only slightly more interesting than watching paint dry. But the mens' and womens' round-robin tournaments have been getting ample airplay in the U.S. and I find myself, well . . . downright fascinated by the techniques and subtleties of a sport hitherto relegated to wisecracks by stand-up comedians.
Warning: The U.S. women, who had a pretty good run, are out of the tournament after falling to Great Britain. The men are sweeping on to the semi-finals. The finals are this weekend.
NBCOlympics.com has put together a comprehensive website on curling here.
