Hard to believe, but it was five years ago this week that open-source Firefox 1.0 was released, liberating many of us from the abomination known as Internet Explorer.
We run Firefox on all of our computers at Kiko's House, including our MacBook Pro, and it continues to run circles around IE and Apple's Safari for ease of use despite innumerable upgrades of those browsers.
But there are some wee problems creeping in. Firefox updates have reached the point of being annoyingly frequent and lock up our old Dell laptop. And there has been the recent addition of Latest News boxes, which violate Mozilla's credo of keeping it simple.
Keep it simple, guys. Please.
