But Will Glenn Reynolds Link To Me? Nah.

The crowd that continues to believe that there are solid links between Saddam Hussein and Osama bin Laden is nothing if not persistent, and we're not even talking about The Decider, who will have us believe that the 9/11 attacks involved not terrorists who trained in Afghanistan under Osama bin Laden but some of the very insurgents who have been raising heck in Iraq.

Glenn Reynolds, blogger and appliance tester par excellence, cannot let yet another Saddam-Osama sighting go by without mentioning it at Instapundit, most recently that:
"I guess it's no big surprise -- Saddam offered bin Laden asylum back in 1999 -- but given that nowadays a lot of people pretend that any kind of cooperation between Saddam and Al Qaeda is unimaginable, it's worth pointing out."
Don't know about you, but Glenn may be spending a titch too much time with his head in microwave ovens because the 1999 CNN story that he breathlessly links to (better late than never) failed to note that all sorts of ruling rogue state wackadoodles were doing the same thing. And as we know, The Bearded One liked his cave and decided to stay put.
Which leads me to acknowledge that in 1979 I was offered a puff on a marijuana cigarette by the notorious Ralph "Sonny" Barger of the Hell's Angels. I refused, but this of course makes me an outlaw biker.
Meanwhile, those Iranian bombs found in Basra the other day aren't from Iran, as the U.S. claimed, nor is the guy the Iraqis captured the head of Al Qaeda in Iraq, as the Baghdad government claimed.
Ah, yes, the fog of war.

Neocons have no reason to use facts to build their arguments. Rumor and innuendo work just fine for them.
