They're at it again: Vice President Cheney and Defense Secretary Rumsfeld, aided and abetted by Capitol Hill hard-liners, are cherry picking intelligence to make the case that Iran's nuclear weapons program is more advanced than it is and to exaggerate Teheran's role in Hezbollah's recent attack on Israel.
Warren Strobel and John Walcott of McClatchy Newspapers report that:
"The International Atomic Energy Agency complained in an unusual letter made public on Thursday that a House intelligence committee report on Iran contains 'erroneous, misleading and unsubstantiated information.'
"A top official of the IAEA, which conducts nuclear inspections in Iran and elsewhere, wrote that the report exaggerated advances Tehran has made in enriching uranium, which can be used to fuel nuclear arms if made pure enough."
