Update on Eldred: When The World News Media Beats A Path To Your Door

Regular Kiko's House readers will recall that I have been writing about the knock-down, drag-out battle between the residents of tiny Eldred Township in the western Poconos against global food and beverage giant NestlĂ©, which wants to sink two bulk extraction wells to pump millions of gallons a week for its Deer Park Spring Water brand. NestlĂ© gets billions in profits while Eldred residents get less than nothing because of the likelihood that their own wells will run dry.
My stories got the attention of national environment websites, and then Alan Fisher, a kindred spirit and legendary war correspondent who is now a senior correspondent for the hugely influential Middle East-based Al Jazeera Media Network.
Alan and cameraman Mike Lavalla were in Eldred on Wednesday and Thursday to interview locals.  I  suggested that Mike shoot Alan doing the intro for his forthcoming story with my favorite Eldred vantage point as the background. He did.
Al Jazeera is beamed into the newsrooms of major U.S. and international papers and television networks, and Alan's story is likely to trigger additional -- and well deserved --interest.
