The CD's March To Oblivion Continues

The year 2009 was unkind to the compact disk as U.S. album sales yet again declined, while I myself bought but a single CD compared to purchases of dozens per annum back in the day.
CD sales have fallen a whopping 52 percent since 2000 although they still account for almost 80 percent of all album purchases, while paid online song downloads continued to grow, but at a pace that was too slow to make up for lost CD sales.
Top CD sellers last year were Taylor Swift's Fearless (5.3 million copies),Susan Boyle's I Dreamed a Dream (3.1 million), Michael Jackson's Number Ones (2.4 million sales) Lady Gaga's The Fame (2.2 million), and Andrea Bocelli's My Christmas (2.2 million).
More here.
