I have yarbled on at considerable length about Afghanistan. While President Obama obviously did not take my advice and that off like-minded people in ordering a troop drawdown instead of an escalation, there's something that's getting lost in the post-West Point speech blathering by John McCain and other Washington worthies who are concerned that the U.S. is tipping its hand to its enemies in delineating a withdrawal timetable.
By laying out what the U.S. will do and when it would do it puts the onus exactly where it belongs: On the government of Afghan President Karzai to get his house in order or else. That works for me and should for anyone else who is disappointed by the president's decision on this fool's errand of a war.
