The Worst Rick Pitino Apology Evah

Rick Pitino is a first-class college basketball coach and a world-class asshole.

Pitino has the distinction of being the only men's coach in NCAA history to lead three different schools to the Final Four, but he may be best remembered for a woman by the name of Karen Sypher.

Pitino consensually doinked Sypher, a former model and auto glass saleswoman, in 2003 and then gave her $3,000 to get an abortion. Sypher later was arrested for trying to extort money from Pitino, who she said also twice raped her.

Pitino's apology was rolled into this extraordinary crown-of-thorns excuse: His brother-in-law was killed in the attack on the World Trade Center on 9/11 and he was really have a rough time getting ovah it.
