There are few things more reprehensible than using a young and impressionable child who has been caught up in the antics of adults for personal and financial gain.

I have no idea whether Julia Rakoczy's father was paid to appear with his nine-year-old and her sister on ABC's "Good Morning America" this week after her mother told police they had been abducted by two black men but in reality took her to Disney World, but you can bet your booty that they didn't take the Greyhound to New York.

So there were the happy-as-clams Rakoczys blabbing away about the massive nationwide manhunt that mother Bonnie Sweeten had triggered through her elaborate abduction hoax.

Julia said the trip to the land of make-believe seemed "normal" and was "fun," but turned scary when she saw her own photograph splashed across a television screen as part of an Amber Alert.

Meanwhile, Sweeten was released from a suburban Philadelphia jail over the weekend after posting $100,000 in cash -- said to be her own money and 10 percent of the one million dollar bail order -- an unusually high amount for someone facing misdemeanor charges of false reporting and identity theft.

Perhaps the police know something that we don't.
