Tom Ricks is a military correspondent without peer, so his proposal that the U.S. military academies be abolished should be taken seriously.
I do take it seriously, but I don't think the case he makes to ax the West Point, Annapolis and Colorado Springs academies to save money is compelling. Besides which, it's not gonna happen.
