For a company that did more than any other to make personal computing personal, about all that Microsoft can look back on in its recent past is shrinking Web browser and operating system market share, some of it as a result of the Vista disaster, and some incredibly stupid advertising campaigns. But the gang from Redmond has outdone itself with a new campaign suggesting that Mac users are snobs because Apple computers cost more than PCs.
Now I normally wouldn't have given this crapola the time of day -- let alone write a blog post -- but a MacBook Pro 17-inch laptop recently came into the DF&C's life and while it is indeed more expensive than the comparable . . . oh, wait a minute.
There are no comparables because the MacBook runs rings around PC laptops for stunning visual clarity, ease of use, battery life and, should you care about sure things, the attractiveness of the machine itself. Oh, and the visit to the Apple Store where we became proud MacBook parents was the best retail experience that we've ever, the follow-up help has been thorough and . . . what isn't there to like?
Eat your heart out Microsoft. And stop whining.

Bill Gates has a lot to answer for, we agreed. He has cost world commerce and industry billions and billions by deliberately making his operating systems too complex and incompatible with each other, and making it impossible to migrate documents from one to another. We Mac users don’t need a help desk, do we?

Long live Mac!
