Hard to believe that Senator Ted Stevens, the recently minted convicted felon, could have been a party to massive voter fraud, but then as the Washington Post notes, Alaskans are different. (Cough, cough.)
Here's the deal: Despite polling showing that the election was arousing an inordinate amount of interest because Governor Sarah Palin was on the national Republican ticket, despite polling that showed that Stevens was in deep trouble, and despite a 12.4 percent increase in turnout for the August primaries, fewer Alaskans voted on Tuesday than in 2004 and 2000.
