Otto Fuerbringer (1911-2008)

Back in the day, Time magazine was a newsweekly with a decidedly conservative bias and editor Otto "The Iron Chancellor" Fuerbringer a living refutation that the liberal media "lost" the Vietnam War.

As Dick Polman notes, Fuerbringer was so powerful that he greased the skids for the expansion of the war although his war correspondents were telling him that it was well on the way to becoming a bloody catastrophe. No matter, he simply had his editors rewrite their dispatches to reflect the official Pentagon optimism.
