Virgil Goode, a knuckle dragging Republican congressman from Virginia, has been beside himself over fears that Islamic extremists will be emboldened by the decision of newly elected Representative Keith Ellison to take his ceremonial oath of office on a Koran rather than a Christian Bible.Ellison, a Minnesota Democrats, is the first Muslim to be elected to Congress.
Ellison will take the oath today at the Capitol on the 1750s English translation of the Koran (see photo) owned by Thomas Jefferson, who was born in Albemarle County, which Goode represents.The book's all-American provenance seems to have shut up Goode, but for how long?
