Terrorism Quotes du Jour

My biggest problem with liberals in the post-9/11 era and their mouthpieces in the blogosphere is that they're quick to criticize the least Bush administration transgression but have no stomach to take on the Hezbollahs of the world.

The Daily Kos crowd brings out the worst in this mindset. They natter on endlessly about a primary election in Connecticut while pretty much ignoring world shaking issues like terrorism and its larger implications.

Kevin Drum at Political Animal agrees:
[A]side from kvetching about Bush's policies, the liberal blogosphere has chosen to almost unanimously sit out any substantive discussion of the fight against radical jihadism and what to do about it. Emphasis counts, and this widespread silence makes it hard to avoid the conclusion that liberal bloggers just don't find the subject very engaging.
CHEAP SHOTS
Then there are the so-called leaders who miss no opportunity to use events like the foiled jet bombing plot for political gain. Add a sore loser by the name of Lieberman to that list.

Says The New York Times in an editorial:
On Wednesday, when the administration already knew that British agents were rounding up suspects . . . Vice President Dick Cheney had a telephone interview with reporters to discuss the defeat of Senator Joseph Lieberman of Connecticut in a Democratic primary. Mr. Cheney went off on a rather rambling disquisition, but its main point was clear: In rejecting Mr. Lieberman, who supported the war in Iraq, the Democrats were encouraging “the Al Qaeda types.” . . .

The man who beat Mr. Lieberman, Ned Lamont, lives in Greenwich, a suburb full of commuters who work in New York high-rise buildings. They are completely aware of the way international terrorism can come crashing down on an ordinary family, leaving the survivors stunned and bereft. . . .

But that did not seem to deter Mr. Lieberman from scoring a cheap sound bite yesterday. Leaving Iraq, as Mr. Lamont advocates, “will be taken as a tremendous victory by the same people who wanted to blow up these planes in this plot hatched in England,” he said. “It will strengthen them and they will strike again.”
