Quote du Jour

To no one's surprise, the Senate has voted to end debate on the latest installment in the Republican right-wing's long running Culture War -- a constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriages.

The vote fell well short of the 67 votes required by the Constitution to approve it, prompting Sen. Russell Feingold, the Wisconsin Democrat, to say:
All over the country, married heterosexual couples are shaking their heads and wondering how exactly the prospect of gay marriage threatens the health of their marriages.
Indeed.

Earth to lunatic fringe: The Constitution is about protecting rights, not taking them away.
