And Now a Word From Our Sponsor

The number of visitors to Kiko's House is going up at a satisfying clip, so this is an opportune time to note an anomaly, if you will, in Web browser download times.

For reasons that my cats have tried to explain to me but I am unable to grasp, Kiko's House download times are slower -- and sometimes much slower -- with Internet Explorer than other browsers.

I am reluctant to endorse any software, but my browser of choice has been Mozilla's wonderful Firefox for the better part of a year. It makes IE seem like your maiden aunt, who as you know gets the flu every winter and is prone to bouts of rheumatism. Firefox, on the other hand, is better inoculated against viruses, worms and other cyber vermin, and seldom locks up.

Firefox can be downloaded for free here. Try it. You'll like it.

We try to keep things on a more or less even keel at Kiko's House. Ha!

That means keeping the pedal to the metal during the week, while the weekends are reserved for Science Saturday and Sunday's Gratitous Kitty Shot of the Week.

There also are monthly installments of the Kiko's House Book Club and Disk Picks, and the occasional shameless promotion to attract new visitors like Worst Rock Songs of All Time and Worst Movies of All Time.
