My pal Will Bunch has uncovered more questionable dealings by ultraconservative choir boy Rick Santorum, the U.S. Senator from Pennsylvania, who it turns out has been particularly adept at comingling lobbying and charitable work.Tricky Ricky was point man for Senate Republican lobbying reform (sic) until Will broke the first Santorum as Sleazebag story last month. He has now been shunted aside because, you know, it just didn't look good having a senator in charge who is under fire for doing the same things that the GOP claims it wants to clean up.
Santorum has been particularly vicious in his attacks over the years on anyone he doesn't consider to be adequately righteous, including liberals and gays, so the turnaround of his fortunes is especially welcome. The Democrats smell blood and he is slipping badly in mid-term election polls.
