At Last! An Affordable Aston Martin

There's good news for boy racers and James Bond wannabes for whom an Aston Martin has always been beyond their reach. It's the gorgeous newV8 Vantage, which lists for a mere $120,000 (not counting the gas guzzler tax for U.S. buyers). The Los Angeles Times' Dan Neil describes the Vantage thusly:
It sure is a looker. If crossbows fired bolts of molten envy, this is what the projectile would look like. Set deep in its stance, malevolently wide and low with a squinting greenhouse, the car is so dastardly looking it should be twirling a mustache.
Dan has the full story here.

American carmakers -- and German and British and . . . -- were shut out when Consumer Reports awarded all top 10 new-car picks to Japanese brands in its annual auto issue.
Honda nabbed five of the 10 picks.

It marked the first time since the magazine began its "top picks" nine years ago that no American vehicle made the list.
