As reported here the other day (Good News in Afghanistan, 12/8/05), an ABC News poll found that a healthy majority of the denizens of that country believe that it is heading in the right direction. Now a new BBC News poll finds that despite the drumbeat of bad war news, Iraqis also have generally positive sentiments for their future.
To wit:
Some 71 percent said things were currently very or quite good in their personal lives and 64 percent said things would get better still in that department in the coming year.
Some 53 percent thought the situation was bad overall in
Iraq, but 69 percent said they expect that to improve.
