He protests just way too much about his greatness. Ali got his "I am the Greatest" schtick from Gorgeous George. But as the seer Charles Barkley once taught us: " It ain't braggin' if you can back it up". Ah..there is the rub for Donald as the Times income tax pantsing underscores. He ain't none of that self-proclaimed greatness.
What I am observing in this election at this stage is fatigue. Folks are exhausted as Trump just never stops . Shawn cited Peter wehner and his take , as a GOP career operative,is very interesting. As the GOP has devolved to this nadir, it is easy to forget that there are, in fact , Republicans who do NOT put party before country and Trump's horror show of a campaign has brought those Republicans out in surprising numbers. What Peter Wehner opines is that those Republicans who for whatever reason have not disavowed Trump, will rue the day when this circus leaves town.mickey Omostlyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04680902855212842007noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19217611.post-49692829517145230902016-10-03T17:27:38.162-04:002016-10-03T17:27:38.162-04:00Very well said.

I guess I just have a bit less faith in the good sense -- or the proper and justified fear -- of the body politic.

I think USA Today(and other editorialists) wimped out by failing to weigh any supposed misgivings over Clinton's privacy obsession vs. the very real business corruption, fraud, mendacity, rapaciousness and misogyny of her rival -- and then endorsing her with real gusto.

I think she may truly need these fence-sitters that such endorsements might have swayed.Hugh Cutlernoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19217611.post-2968489007179102442016-10-02T20:29:29.420-04:002016-10-02T20:29:29.420-04:00Trump may be subconsciously terrified at the idea ...Trump may be subconsciously terrified at the idea of actually becoming president. The projection of grandiosity of a malignant narcissist masks an underlying sense of worthlessness. Trump's efforts to compensate are almost cartoonish -- gold-plated bathroom fixtures, etc. Can you imagine the inner turmoil of a man who cannot accept that a beauty contest winner would dare criticize him and thus must vent on Twitter at 3 in the morning? That's because any criticism, however slight, threatens to deflate the grandiose projection -- and when the projection is gone, the world might see the scared, damaged child within. For that to happen would cause a type of psychic disintegration that feels like death, so he feels compelled to ferociously counterattack after any criticism, no matter how irrational it might seem.

I think Trump knows deep down -- maybe just subconsciously -- that if he became president, no amount of bravado could mask his utter unfitness for the job. Hence the self-sabotage. Part of his psyche may be trying to prevent him from winning, which would lead to the grandest unmasking of a charlatan the world has ever seen.Bscharlotthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06667913621618808338noreply@blogger.com
